Treatment
Biostimulators
Stimulating your own collagen for gradual structural change over time.
What it is
Calcium hydroxyapatite is a dermal filler that does two jobs. Depending on the dilution chosen, it can add volume and stimulate collagen production, or stimulate collagen alone — no added volume, just tighter and more youthful-looking skin.
The microspheres act as a scaffold that prompts your own fibroblasts to lay down new collagen. That result builds gradually, and you will start to see the change around three months after the procedure.
Where it can be used
Not only the face. The same collagen response works on skin elsewhere on the body.
- Temples
- Cheeks
- Jawline
- Chin
- Nasolabial folds
- Neck
- Décolletage
- Inner upper arms
- Above the knees

How I approach it
The plan depends on what you are after. Where volume has been lost — temples, cheeks, jawline — a dilution that adds volume as well as stimulating collagen makes sense. Where the concern is skin quality rather than volume, a thinner dilution treats crepey texture and laxity without adding anything.
Because the effect develops over months, patience is part of the treatment. If you need a result by a specific date, we will plan the timeline backwards from it.
What to expect
Timing
The collagen change becomes visible at around 3 months and lasts 12–18 months. A volumising dilution also gives some immediate effect.
Massage
Five minutes, five times a day, for the first five days. This matters — it is not optional.
Imaging
The microspheres are visible on CT and may show on X-ray. Tell your doctor or radiologist.
Before and after
My own patient, photographed from two angles and published with written consent. Volume change reads differently in profile than it does head-on, which is why both are shown.
Treated areas: temples, cheeks, jawline, nasolabial folds and chin.

Restored contour across the whole face, with the skin’s own collagen responding over the months that followed.

What to do once you leave. These are the same instructions I hand you in clinic.
You'll see some effect immediately. Full results build over about 3 months and last 12–18 months.
Common side effects
Swelling, bruising, redness, pain, itching and tenderness at the injection sites. Frequent icing or cooling over the first few days will reduce bruising and swelling.
For 24 hours
- Avoid sun and heat exposure
- No strenuous activity, hot tubs, saunas or facials
- No alcohol, Advil or Aspirin — Tylenol is fine
- No actives: AHAs, retinols or vitamin C
- No makeup until the following day
- Keep salt intake down
For 5–7 days
- Don't sleep on the treated areas; sleep on an incline if you can
- Antihistamines are fine and may help with swelling
- Massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for the first 5 days
Two things to know. These microspheres are visible on CT and may show on plain X-ray — tell your doctor or radiologist if you're having imaging. And once the swelling settles, if you feel any lumps in the treated area, call the clinic on 204-416-5433 promptly. Nodules are much easier to treat early.

What it costs
Biostimulator treatment is $700 per syringe. Most areas need more than one session to build the result, and the plan is agreed with you up front.
