Filler dissolving

Reversal of hyaluronic acid filler — whether I placed it or someone else did.

What it is

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. It is prescribed individually after assessment, and it is the reason hyaluronic acid filler is considered reversible.

People come for this for all sorts of reasons: a result they never settled into, migration over years, product placed somewhere it should not have been, or simply wanting to start again.

Assessment comes first

Not everything that looks like filler is filler. Swelling, fat pad changes, lymphatic issues and normal anatomy all get mistaken for product, and dissolving something that was never there will not fix it — it will just remove tissue support you wanted to keep.

So I assess before I treat, and I will tell you if I think the problem is something else.

What to expect

Speed

Works quickly, with the full effect visible within a day or two.

Staged

More than one session is sometimes needed, particularly with older or firmer product.

Afterwards

If you want to re-treat, we wait for the area to settle first.

If you have had filler elsewhere and something is worrying you, you are welcome to book an assessment. No judgement about where it was placed — the point is to sort it out.

Before, assessment and after

My own patient, published with written consent. This is filler placed elsewhere over time, which had migrated above the lip border.

Before

Product sitting above the natural border, giving a shelf that reads as fullness but sits outside the lip.

Assessment

Mapping where the product had actually travelled before treating. This step decides how much hyaluronidase is needed and where — and it is where I confirm the problem is filler at all.

After

The lip returned to its own border and shape, ready to start again from a clean base if the patient chooses to.

Individual results. How much product is present, how long it has been there and how it responds all vary, and more than one session is sometimes needed.

What it costs

Filler dissolving is $200 per session. If more than one session is needed, that is discussed before we start.
